From the creators of TD’s Tailgate comes Twisted Citrus, the newest and brightest brunch spot in North Canton… and you know we don’t get new things like this very often.
Twisted Citrus has a clean, bright and fresh interior with modern seating and funky color splashed throughout. Seating options are half booth/half table and high breakfast bar.
The food options are breakfast, brunch, and limited lunch – perfect, because their hours are 7am-2pm (half an hour later on Sundays).
The Twisted Citrus menu is heavy on eggs, bennys and breakfast carbs, but has incredible gems like the breakfast nachos (shown below/$8.29) under “twisted specialties“. This section has a portion of mexican-inspired dishes as well as a banh mi sammie ($8.49) and pasta dish ($7.99). Each are completely thought through, with an ingredient list that won’t leave you hoping for “something more.”
Salty tortilla chips topped with chorizo, scrambled eggs, pico de gallo, black beans, avocado, cheese and jalapeños. The breakfast nachos are totally conquerable as one, but could be shared by two. I also requested a side of sour cream, and suggest you do as well if you dive into jalapeños like this girl here.
Back to the eggs and bennys I mentioned before; the TC menu has over ten omelet options that have various ingredients from shrimp to chili pork, and kraut to marinara sauce. While no particular theme seems to be present, to have Italian, Mexican and Polish options all in one menu appears to be a crowd pleaser. Omelets average about $8.49 and come with toast. Feel free to swap out for a fruit cup, or even upgrade to a bagel.
If you don’t like others making decisions for you, then try your hand at making your own omelet with the Three Egg Omelet with your choice of three fillings ($7.99).
For those who find yolks a little yuck: egg whites and egg beaters are available with a $1 up-charge. I for one, am on board with paying a little more for that.
If you’re into poached eggs, hollandaise and breakfast meat, then you’ll enjoy finding seven chef-inspired takes on the quintessential brunch staple, eggs benedict.
For Carby-Barbies out there, the french toast and pancake action is pretty outstanding. For those who have treked up to Jackflaps in Cleveland, the items are very similar to what you’ll find there. Loads of gooey and crunchy, with some fruit thrown in. On my wish-list:funky drunky monkey cakes with banana pecan cakes, rum praline sauce, bananas and chantilly cream.
Two important beverage facts you should know:
1.) A DIY Bloody Mary Bar is set up on Saturday and Sunday
2.) Twisted Citrus serves Akron’s own Angel Falls Coffee <3
Another fun fact – brunch is much better enjoyed with friends, and this new addition to North Canton should be an easy sell. These lovely ladies agree. Cheers!
